Fresh Off the Boat TV Show Controversy

Granted I have never read the book written by Eddie Huang, but I am well aware that it was his memoir and the TV show was supposedly based on it.
But after reading 'Fresh Off the Boat' author Eddie Huang backs away from the show article, I was like "Whaaaa.... how dare they?!"

Tbh, I only watched 2 episodes of the TV show. I stopped because it wasn't what I expected it to be. I've heard the hype about this show from The Fung Bros' and Wong Fu Productions' channel. I got the impression that its going to be a comedy show, still I expected it to show more about the struggles they faced for being a FOB family. Instead, it gave out vibes of an 80's slapstick sitcom.

Thus the most anticipated comedy TV show in the Asian community became humorless.

Lets be real, if you're an Asian living in a non-Asian country and you heard the word "FOB", you're most likely gonna feel somewhat unease or discomfort to some extend. Because however, the term "FOB" is a form of derogatory.
Being labelled as a "FOB" gives out impression that the person is poor, uneducated, speaks broken English and other misguided stigmas.

I supposed I should feel grateful to the producer and the network for broadcasting an "Asian" show in a primetime slot.
Eventhough I actually likes the actors; Randall Park is quite funny; Constance Wu is really pretty and the "Huang" kids are lovable;
But they basically butchered Eddie Huang's memoir!
That is rude!
And we should not be okay with that!

If the author himself couldn't stand the show .. why should we?
