Conchita Wurst - Rise Like A Phoenix - Austria - Live at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest

Waking in the rubble
Walking over glass
Neighbors say we're trouble
Well that time has passed

Peering from the mirror
No, that isn't me
A stranger getting nearer
Who can this person be

You wouldn't know me at all today
From the fading light I fly

Rise like a phoenix
Out of the ashes
Seeking rather than vengeance
Retribution
You were warned
Once I'm transformed
Once I'm reborn
You know I will rise like a phoenix
But you're my flame

Go about your business
Act as if you're free
No one could have witnessed
What you did to me

'Cause you wouldn't know me today
And you have got to see
To believe
From the fading light I fly

Rise like a phoenix
Out of the ashes
Seeking rather than vengeance
Retribution
You were warned
Once I'm transformed
Once I'm reborn

I rise up to the sky
You threw me down but
I'm gonna fly

And rise like a phoenix
Out of the ashes
Seeking rather than vengeance
Retribution
You were warned
Once I'm transformed
Once I'm reborn
You know I will rise like a phoenix
But you're my flame

Born as Thomas Neuwirth  on November 6, 1988 in Gmunden, Austria is an openly gay singer. He created Conchita Wurst persona, a drag queen with beard and won Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the song “Rise Like a Phoenix”.
I personally loves both the song and Conchita Wurst’s performance. Furthermore I will refer Conchita Wurst as a she because Neuwirth refers him in masculine term and Conchita in feminine term.

The lyric to the song “Rise Like a Phoenix” has a deep personal touch. About someone who was struggling with their self identity, in this case sexual orientation. I also feel this song could give positive empowering messege as no matter how painful your life now, you can overcome it and rise like a phoenix. As we know, phoenix is a mythical bird that when it die, it’ll burn to ashes and reborn again as a new phoenix, which pretty much makes it immortal. No matter how bad bullies “burn” you, keep fighting and strive! But going with the phoenix philosophy, even though you finally overcomed the troubles, you should not seek for vengeance. Instead keeps using those “flame” to fuel you to do more good.
The first time I watched the music video, I was curious of the beard, is it real or not? But after I did more digging, apparently its real. I understand there are people who find her beard disgusting. Her beard is actually well-trimmed and shaped neatly. And I find it beautiful. Her professional makeup makes her appearance FABOULOUS!
As for her voice, I like it. She knows how to control the pitch, her voice has an unique color and she did picked the right kind of music to show it.

To be simple :
1.    Keep fighting, stay strong, be positive no matter what happens to you now.
2.    Don’t be a bully. Karma does exist. Be kind of each other.

3.    Use the negativity or “flames” that’s thrown at you to even fight harder and make it your game.

I foresees this song to be a legendary song for the LGBT group, or at least to be sung on drag queen lip sync contests.

All in all, I wish Conchita Wurst will keep productive as a singer or more and just be FAB!
